--- title: Guidebook on how to build a neurobehavioral core description: Designing a behavioral core can be difficult. This guide provides information and tips on how to design, configure, promote, and finance a core. image: https://info.noldus.com/hubfs/mockup-guidebook-rodent-neurobehavioral-core.jpeg --- [![noldus-logo](https://info.noldus.com/hubfs/noldus-logo.svg)](https://www.noldus.com) ## Free guidebook # How to build a rodent neurobehavioral core ## What is a behavioral core?  ### A centralised location that provides expertise and services for behavioral testing of animals.  This guidebook covers the basics of setting up a behavioral core for studying rodent behavior. A behavioral core is a dedicated space for performing behavioral tests and research. This guidebook also highlights important factors in experimental design, including raising animals in the laboratory and methods for ensuring high-quality experimental results. The author, Dr. Jason Rogers, emphasizes the importance of professional training, consistent record keeping and accurate data analysis, all to improve the translational value.  Topics in our guidebook: - Facilities: how should I set up my behavioral rooms? - Staff: Who runs the behavioral core?  - Finances: How much does it cost?  ![Guidebook on how to build a behavioral core](https://info.noldus.com/hubfs/mockup-guidebook-rodent-neurobehavioral-core.jpeg "Guidebook on how to build a behavioral core") --- ![publications-noldus](https://info.noldus.com/hs-fs/hubfs/publications-noldus.png?width=216&name=publications-noldus.png "publications-noldus") This guidebook is designed for researchers and administrators who are considering building a rodent behavioral core, or want to expand their current behavioral testing capacity. The goal is to provide guidance, information, and tips, based on our extensive experience with building labs and from the contributions of those we interviewed. This guidebook will show you: 1. Why: Three benefits of building a behavioral core 2. Who: Let's build a team 3. What: Which tests will you include? 4. How: Planning, setting up and maintaining your core Download the free guidebook and get started!
